Weekly Devotional
During these times of uncertainty, a lot of our wants and some of our needs have been suddenly taken from us. One day we were laughing with friends, going to school, or eating out to dinner, and the next day we look back to see the privileges that seemed like ordinary expectations.
We’re feeling overwhelmed, afraid, frustrated, and confused because the plans we had and the lives we were living have vanished into thin air.
As we sit at home, it’s easy to begin to wonder why God allowed this to happen, and what’s the purpose of all this suffering? It’s not a question to be proud of, but its one that I’m sure has begun to linger into your mind.
What’s the answer to this dreaded question? The answer is one no one wants to hear. We don’t know, but, God willing, time will tell.
This time of tribulation is one in which waiting is the key. Waiting out the quarantine and the sickness, may sound easy, but as you all know it’s the complete opposite. It’s difficult to sit back, without any control over the situation, and just watch it all unravel, but there is one thing we still can do.
We can have control over our mindset and our reaction. While we power through this season of waiting, negative thoughts begin to knock on our door, causing feelings we’re reluctant to admit to.
Worst-case scenarios play out in our minds and the while we’re attempting to solve the puzzling question of “why.” It’s so easy to get caught up in the loop of neverending thoughts, but there are four words to get you through this tribulation.
God is with us.
While this may not answer all of your questions, it serves as a reminder that as long as God is walking with us it doesn’t matter whether we’re in a hill or valley.
He stands beside us even on our best and worst days, and that is an expectation that we can always put our faith in.
Figuring out God’s reason isn’t our job, but trusting Him is. It won’t be easy, it definitely won’t be ideal, but with God it’s possible.
