Over the summer I was beyond thankful to be able to make a trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama. This trip was the first time I had visited Alabama beaches since I was a little girl.
The past couple of years we have visited Navarre, Florida and loved it. When border closures caused our trip to get canceled we had to make a quick change.
Since Florida wasn’t even in the equation, we decided we would instead go to Alabama.
I’m not going to pretend like we weren’t bummed out. Visiting the Flordia beaches had become a tradition we were all looking forward to.
Dragging our feet and shaking our heads, we were able to find another condo in Gulf Shores and got to planning. We decided to make the most out of our situation, and I’m so glad we did.
We booked a Saturday to Saturday trip in a condo that was on the beach. The condo we decided to book with wasn’t the nicest condo we’ve been in, but it was still pretty decent for such a last minute plan.
Our condo was on the first floor and only a few seconds from the beach. It was so nice to be able to run up to the condo for lunch, a bathroom break, etc.
If you’re looking to book a trip in Gulf Shores, there are multiple different resources and companies to book through. Overall, you can’t go wrong, but the closer to the beach the better.
As a group, we were all just excited to be spending some time by the ocean. We spent countless hours on the beach, going to shops, seeing beautiful views, and eating unbelievable food.
The Best Sunrise & Sunset Spots
One of my personal favorite things to do while I’m at the beach is watch the sunrise and the sunset. It is so refreshing to watch the sun come up on the beach, only to turn around and watch it go down in the evening.
In Gulf Shores, I personally watched the sunrise every single morning. I would wake up, make my coffee, and scope out the ocean for dolphins. It was such a perfect beginning to every day.
The sunrises were gorgeous, but you can’t go to the beach without watching a sunset at least once. My sister, boyfriend, and I went to one of their public beaches (linked here) to watch the golden sun set.
Delicious Restaurants You Can’t Miss
After a long day at the beach, we’d hurry in to get cleaned up. One shower and a change of clothes later, we headed out to eat dinner. In Gulf Shores there are tons of different options for food.
Flora-Bama is a restaurants/bar that has delicious food and doubles as a must-see attraction. Flora-Bama is a world famous beach bar that is located one the line between Alabama and Florida. My family loved seeing Flora-Bama because it truly is something you can’t get anywhere else.
Out of all of the different restaurants, Bahama Bob’s was my favorite. This beachy restaurant is known for their pineapple burger, beach view, and more. I personally got the Grand Bahama Grilled Chicken and it mouth watering good.
Mikee’s Seafood was another amazing place to eat at. This restaurant had all things seafood. I personally am not a huge seafood fan, so I got the Island Baked Chicken which was very good.
The Yard is a milkshake bar straight out of your wildest dreams. Every milkshake looks phenomenal and afterwards your tummy will be thanking you. This milkshake bar is one you can’t miss while you’re in Gulf Shores.
On a whim, I decided I had to try at least one local coffee shop while I was at the beach. After surfing the web I came across Southern Shores Coffee, and I’m so glad I did.
This coffee shop had great service, all the beach vibes, and I loved the coffee. I was especially impressed by the variety they had. It took me forever to decide which I should try.
Only The Best Tourist Attractions
Because Orange Beach and Gulf Shores are so close together, you are only a short drive away from a few attractions that you won’t want to miss out on. Down below are a few more stops you should make while in the Gulf Shores area.
If you’re looking for a fun night out, you should check out this shopping center. The Ward has food, shopping, fireworks, a lazer light show, and so much more.
There is so much to do, and of course so much to eat. While walking around you’ll find they have a super yummy sweet shop, a dog filled store, and tons of beachy stores.
Another place to hangout is well…The Hangout. The Hangout is known for their summer music festival, but they also have constant music, food, and fun. The Hangout holds various events through the year, so you’ll want to see what all they have going on while you visit.
This iconic surf shop is known all over the country. Ron Jon’s is a beachy shop where they have anything from swimsuits, cups, shirts, and so much more. This shop is so cute if you’re looking for souvenirs.
