Self-love is one of those topics that isn’t discussed as often as it should be. It’s so easy to get caught up in loving and taking care of everyone surrounding us that we can forget to take care of ourselves.
When we push back taking care of our own mental, physical, or emotional state it can catch up to us much faster than we may think. That’s why it is important to keep your self-care in check and show yourself the same love you’d show each of your loved ones.
While self-care and self-love are two different things, it is important that in your life they go hand in hand. Self-love is a twisting and turning roller coaster. Some days are better than others, and some days it may seem like you can’t crawl out of the hole you’re in.
On good and bad days, you have to find ways to show yourself self-love by taking care of yourself, and in turn loving yourself. There are a few different ways to show yourself some much needed self-love.
Take A Do-Over
When you’re having a hard day, week, or can’t seem to get out of a slump sometimes all you need is to take the day and start over on the next day. If you wake up and feel like a drag, chances are your attitude, outlook, and overall demeanor will be difficult to shift. By relieving your stress and letting yourself take the day to recharge it can make not only your tomorrow better but your today.
One easy and simple way to shift your mindset and show yourself self-love is by looking yourself in the mirror and telling yourself you’re beautiful, intelligent, and strong. By saying these things, out loud, you’ll slowly but surely start to truly believe them. No matter what truth you’re struggling to believe, by repeating it to yourself I can promise you’ll start to see a difference.
Reach Out To Your Loved Ones
Reaching out to the people who love you most is imparative to loving yourself. When things get rough, you have to let your loved ones help pull you out of the valleys. Whether it is a text, call, or coffee date, anything helps. The people who love you want to make sure you’re feeling joyous, confident, and yourself they will want to be there for you in any way they can.

Journaling Through Your Thoughts
As I’ve recently started journaling, I’ve learned that writing down your best and worst thoughts or experiences can really help an abundence of areas. Once I started journaling I learned so much about myself, my thoughts, and even how certain things were affecting my mindset. I’ve realized that for things you don’t want to talk about or say out loud, writing it down is extremely cathartic.
Focus On The Positives
Self-love issues stem from believing negative or damaging thoughts and allowing them to creep into your mind. The key to self-love is remembering all of the positive and encouraging things about yourself and your life. Positivity goes a really long way, and you have to hold on to it with everything you have.
Invest In What Makes You Happy
Do the things you love. Chase after everything that makes you smile like a goofy child or forget to eat lunch. It is so important to do what you love. It is so important to be happy in every situatiton, with those you love, and make happiness a priority in your life.
